The Value of Prayer in the life of a Believer

Posted on September 18, 2016 at 8:35 PM Comments comments (1)

To be steadfast in prayer, as a spiritual leader it is vital that the ones we lead see us in a continuous prayer mode, we must lead by example, if we are preaching pray always with prayer and supplication we as leaders must be seen praying always. Watching therein with thanksgiving, means to me that even when my prayers are not answered right away to be grateful unto God with thanksgiving for all that he has blessed us with. The statement Dr. Early made, that prayer saves time “I’m too busy not to pray.” I can affirm that statement with a testimony of my youth bible study class, we were in session and I had given them an assignment to do the week before and they didn’t complete it, not that it was complicated but they all replied they didn’t have the time, “you know with all we have to do during the summer and all” one excuse was. So I replied to all of the excuses with God in control of all your time, God spends 100% of his time on you and you can’t give him 15 min. and because of that you lost an entire day by not giving God any of his time, I left them in a deep thought because some of them had suffered great loss and continue to petition for prayers of the church.

Ways to develope a successful prayer lifestyle

3 applications you can put into your own prayer life?

1. Establish a daily prayer time. Jesus prayed first thing in the morning (Mark 1:35), he also prayed late at night (Mark 6:46; Luke 6:12, 13; Matt. 26:36-44).

2. Pray several times a day. Early states, the great leader King David mentioned that for at least one season of his life he cried out to God in prayer three times during the day, morning, noon, and evening (Psalms 55:17).

3. Determine an amount of time to pray. Effective spiritual leaders not only establish a tome for prayer but also usually set an amount of time, most set aside an hour, many set aside longer. In our new members class we start off with a 15 min prayer challenge for those who wish to start a prayer life.

What is Hermeneutics

Hermeneutics, defined is the art and science of interpretation of scripture.” To understand the word of God we must be able to put it out in truth to Gods people. We must properly interpret the word of God. Fee mentions that preachers tend to dig first and look later. I can see this form of preaching that tend to cover up a lot of biblical truths just to please the crowd. A lack of true interpretation can be misleading to truth seekers, but good enough for those who attend church for entertainment purposes. According to Fee “The first reason one needs to learn to interpret is that, whether one likes it or not, every reader is an interpreter.” The modern approach to hermeneutics are in the form of several tools. 1. A personal bible study, helps to create a relationship with us and our need to learn more of the word of God. 2. Scholarly approach to the bible, which requires forms of criticism, textual criticism that draws us close as possible to the originality of the bible. Historical criticism that asks the question, who, what, when, where. Source criticism looks for the source of the biblical document, form criticism looks for what kind of document, reaction criticism ask for what was the purpose of the writer, and finally the literary criticism looks for the text as the unit.

The Great Commission Worshiper

The Great Commission to Worship is a breakdown of the meaning of the terms worship and Evangelism, the chapters of this very informative book relates to the relationship we have with Christ to follow his command, and the relationship Christ has with us to trust us with the responsibility of evangelizing to the people of God in a similar manner as with our personal worship. The Mandate of Worship, the author states “based on the rapid decline of evangelism statistics, the so called believers seemed to be content with the disconnect in reference to their faith thus allowing the outward expressions of worship with little regard to what it means to be a multiplier of disciples of Christ, there had been no change of religious leaders to challenge the generations of academic expressions of worship to exist”. Chapter one on the mandate of worship compares a concert and the way we publicly act as believers, and that our private lives tell a different story, Whaley states, “ is the boldness transferred to the daily living”.

My view of creation

Posted on February 21, 2016 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

The view of creation that I hold and why. My view on creation is just what is written in the word of God and what has been taught to me since I was a child. I hold on to the inerrant truth that God in his infinite wisdom sat upon his throne of Grace and said let there be light, and there was light (Gen, 1-4). I believe that the world was void and that God used His very hand and made each and every creek, river, lake, and mountain, and I believe God set time in the order that it is with a plan for mankind to prosper in it. My reflection on the debate over creation. The new international translation bible states in (Genesis 1:26.27) “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” It is not possible that something with intelligence and the compassion of mankind can just be made out of nothing but an explosion in space.

You are a Son

He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths, for his name’s sake. The peace of God refreshes me deep down in my soul, deeper than any relationship could ever do, unlike man God will surly guide down the right path as I trust in him I become closer to God and all of my decision will be godly ones, with a closer relationship with God he will claim me as his own as his namesake, which means son ship.
